CityDance
Invited MSCS students from New Ballet’s Pathway’s programs will participate in a rigorous, and fun day of dance classes spanning several genres. Mornings will consist of classes in styles such as Modern and fundamentals of classical dance technique. The afternoons will be spent in combined classes with the Level 5 intensive participants and will include bridge building sessions, challenging classes in West African and Hip hop genres along with improvisation exercises.
- Grades 5-7 for New Ballet Pathways’ students in Memphis Shelby County Schools.
- Free / By invitation only.
Both groups will collaborate to create a new work that will be presented at the Summerdance performance on June 16 at the Halloran Centre for the Performing Arts & Education. All students will offer creative input into the final product. The combination of these intensives has become a cherished milestone for New Ballet dancers. It is the work from which Lil Buck sprang and from which student dancers have come to realize the hard work required of dancers. It’s also a lot of fun!
