New Funding for New Ballet from Hohenberg Foundation and International Paper
New Ballet is excited to announce new funding from the Hohenberg Foundation and International Paper!
Hohenberg Visiting Artists Grant
Please join us in thanking the Hohenberg Foundation for continuing to support the Hohenberg Visiting Artists program, which brings guest masters to New Ballet throughout the year for choreography, performances, teaching, mentoring, and more. These distinguished professionals not only make our performances stellar, but also educate our students through a variety of instruction and performance encounters. We’re especially excited about the June 2020 residency of Congolese master Chrysogone Diangouraya, who will introduce his unique art form to New Ballet. Thanks again to the Hohenberg Foundation!
Summer Intensive Guest Master Instructors Include:
Maxx Reed (Contemporary), Kaori Ogasawara (Ballet), Chrysogone Diangouaya (Congolese Dance and Drumming), Michael Medcalf, (Modern – Horton Technique), Lisa Ballo (Ballet), Briana Brown (Contemporary).
International Paper Supports New Show ¡José!
Thanks to support from the International Paper Foundation, in October New Ballet premiered, ¡José!, a new educational performance that will tour in schools and other community venues. Based on the life and work of the great modern dance master, José Limón, the program combines elements of dance, music, and theater to engage and excite audiences of all ages. Presenters of the show also receive complementary lesson plans for guided study in the classroom. International Paper in an advocate of learning and literacy in Memphis, and we are grateful for this support.
